I was born in Medford, Oregon in 1978. My passion for art and painting began while attending
Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. Between college and moving to Honolulu in 2010,
I taught English as a second language in Busan, South Korea.
My abstract paintings are a constant experiment with the relationship of colors,
lines, and forms. I attempt to let the paint dictate what is needed next. One
color calls for another or doesn’t, just as one line calls for another or doesn’t. The need and
desire to create is always there. The battle and process of making a painting work is
what drives my art.
The portrait paintings began in 2005. They started as a break from abstraction, color, and
palette knife. They have become a very important part of they way I work and just as
meaningful as my abstract paintings.
